Mighty Hopper Mural

Recently, My wife and I completed a mural for my employer, Georgetown Day School. Our mascot is the Hoppers. The mural sits in a parking lot across from the school on 42nd Street, in Northwest D.C. Come check it out!

The design was inspired by side show carnival banners. Recently, I’ve been enamored with the lettering and color contrasts of these kinds of signs. This inspired my “Cavern of Oddities” placard.

Also, I read “Paintings of the Peculiral: A Guide to Sideshow Banner Artists & their Respective Work.” The authors do a deep dive into the prominent banner artists of the past and the distinctive characteristics of their work.
