#100DucksDC: Ducks 1-2

The original duck decoy next two the first two duck molds.

I’m going to put one hundred luminescent duck sculptures in a visible location somewhere in Washington, D.C. This will occur at some yet-to-be-determined time after I’ve made a hundred ducks.

I’ve told some people about this plan, and they’ve asked why I would to this. The best answer I can give is that many people in Washington, D.C. take themselves rather seriously and I think it would do them good to happen upon one hundred illuminated ducks.

I’m using a sculpting method I learned from following Mark Jenkins’s work online, a method I also used when to make a life-sized model of my wife reading a copy of my book.

I’m making ducks because I have an old duck decoy that has been in my family for several generations. Its simple shape lends itself well to this type of mold.
